PARKING AT THE CLUB

PARKING AT WATERLOO ROAD

NOTICE TO MEMBERS & VISITORS

Southport RFC is situated in the heart of the predominantly residential area of Hillside.
The ground is easily accessed by public transport. Hillside Station on the Merseyrail Northern line is a five minute walk away, and the 49 bus stops on the doorstep of the ground – for further details visit http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk

It is appreciated however that most travel to the ground by car and to assist the club offers some helpful guidelines.

CLUB CAR PARK

The club has a private car park facility within the curtilage of the ground with a capacity of around 60 cars BUT:
• it fills up very quickly on Saturday afternoon match days and Sunday morning training/match days;
• there is no turn round facility in the car park and manoeuvring can be tricky; and
• access is via a narrow single track private road with no passing bay which means cars have to back up.

Extreme care is required in using the car park. Pedestrians, particularly children are often in the vicinity and are a hazard. Speed needs to be kept to crawling pace and crossing the public pavement to Waterloo Road needs particular vigilance especially as there is a blind spot caused by the adjoining hedge.

In the circumstances on street parking in the vicinity and walking to the ground is an alternative option.

ON STREET PARKING

There is plenty of space to park in the roads close to the ground but the club requests that full consideration and respect is given to our neighbours at all times by following a few simple rules such as:

• park well away from driveway entrances (some are marked with ‘H’ but even so please leave plenty of space)
• do not park on the opposite side of driveways if prevents or makes it difficult for vehicles getting in or out; and
• do not park on grass verges.

Sunday mornings are now especially busy and with the congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes on the other side of Waterloo Road also looking to park close to the church (under no circumstances must the private car park within the church grounds be used!).

The entrance to the club car park is a particular concern. Good visibility both ways onto Waterloo Road is required, but this is severely reduced when cars park right up to the entrance sometimes ignoring temporary bollards put out. Do not remove these.

Note the parking bays at Sandon Road shops are restricted parking and pay & display on Saturdays. Again we request that the shop owners and customers are given due respect.

The club advises all users to leave plenty of time to get parked up and if necessary a little further away to prevent congestion and confrontation.

Above all, the club wants everyone to make their visit to Waterloo Road as enjoyable as possible for all concerned.

Thank you
