Look Each Other In The Eye.
On a cold, wet winter morn we arrived at the exposed Wigan ground, for a Development Team friendly match.
The boys started well, with forwards carrying and rucking well, and the back line looking organised and alert, this continued throughout the game.
Unfortunately it became apparent that Wigan, despite being advised several times that this was a development team fixture, had fielded a very developed development team. Not that this effected the boys, who battled on regardless, even after knocks had meant the loss of Ethan Henshaw the Captain who had driven, rucked and tackled well, and Jake Lowther who had given a hard running and tackling display to be proud of, he went forward every time with ball in hand.
Other noticeable performances came from a hard running trio in Luke McKibbin, Mackenzie Price, and Harrison Rayner-Smith, James Britton showed a will to take the game to the opposition regardless of anything.
Also assured performances from Harrison Carney and Oliver Ball, as we have come to expect, well done.
In addition Ben Gillman, confirmed the glowing reports Henry had passed on regarding him, running, passing and tackling with the best of them, he must have played Rugby in a previous life.
The spirit the boys showed for each other was admirable. They had been tasked before the game to give their all for each other, and be able at the end of the game to look each other in the eye and say "I DID MY BEST FOR YOU". This challenge was met fully, they should all be proud.
All the boys are worthy of mention therefore, so well done James Alty, David Alty, Harrison Carney, Harrison Rayner Smith, Luke McKibbin, Ethan Henshaw, Ben G, Tom Selby, Conor Mullane, Mackenzie Price, Jack Dawson, Jake Lowther, Leon Elliott and Oliver Ball,
we are proud of you all.
