Good old Asda Supermarket in Southport............fortunately we have old Mrs Lloyd for a players parent and she just happens to work at Asda in Southport. "Hey Mrs Lloyd, any chance of bag-packing at Asda to get some money for the dad's to have a pint on tour??" "I'll see what I can do" she said in a Wigan/Leigh type accent.
And so it came to be that we all cascaded on the poor unsuspecting shoppers on Saturday 27th, dressed in all our club finery (well some of us anyway!)
Mrs Lloyd directed the lads, gave them a quick training and H&S chat and away they went. Oh those poor shoppers faced with hormonal 16 year olds on a Saturday morning! But to do them justice, the community of Southport were as usual over generous with their donations, giving small and large change all over the shop. The lads did themselves and the club proud with their attitude, behaviour and courteous manners (honestly they were!!)
Many, Many Thanks to the lads and parents who were able to help. Many Thanks to old Mrs Lloyd for her enthusiasm, although she never bought any bacon butties, and organisation. A few bob was raised and will greatly help with the upcoming tour to North Wales. Oh and the club get a cut, but don't tell Alan how much.................
