Southport RFC - A year to remember

2018 has been another excellent year here at Southport Rugby Club and we have so much to be proud of, however as the year draws to a close, we asked you to pick your favourite moments!

Mike Dale (DOR) Moments of 2018

The ability to field a team in all age groups, 1st, 2nd, 3rd XV’s, Ladies & Colts every week and an occasional Vets and U21 team. Quite an achievement for any club nowadays! Further to this having so many of our age groups represented within Sale Sharks DPP, Sale Sharks Academy & Lancashire U17s, 18s, 20s also Lancashire Ladies & Girls. Not to mention at Firwood centre of excellence for U18s Girls. A huge honour for the club this season was James Harper signing a professional contract with Sale Sharks whilst being apart of England U18s. 1st teamer Lawrence Abood played a pivotal role in helping Lebanon lift the West Asian Rugby Championship for the second consecutive year. It is also great to see so many fresh faces coming into our senior side, with the majority from our mini/junior teams - Long may it continue!

Your Moments:

Andy Lawton - Under 15s winning the Lancashire Bowl Winners 2017/18

Where next?

Double trouble! Ethan Hall Lyon and James Cook both selected to represent their county on behalf of SRFC for Lancashire U18’s and Lancashire U20’s respectively.
Duncan Carter RIP It’s with great sadness we report the passing of former 2nd XV Captain and ‘larger than life character’ Duncan Carter.
