It's tutti fruiti week! Star billing in the Visiter with Tommy Fleetwood, two wins last week, two away games tomorrow and Six Nations!

Roundup and Preview

Last Saturday the First XV continued their excellent run of form but pride of place went ‘over the wall’ to the Third XV in securing an excellent 19—3 against Widnes 3s. Missing injured skipper Brian Henry the team rallied together to overcome the side just above them in the table. All credit to the lads, a heady mix of seasoned players and vibrant youth, who have battled gamely all season with depleted numbers but have always done the club proud. No more so than Saturday and hopefully a tonic for Brian as he continues his recovery.

There was no Second XV game but on Sunday Widnes took revenge in beating the Colts 31-30 in a cliff hanger of a cup tie. A feature of both days was the size of the crowd attracted by the home grown talent on display (we'll come onto this!) and the opening round of the Six Nations on the screens. Rugby Union in Southport at its best!

Great coverage in the Visiter too with Mike Smiths excellent match report and photos taken by Joe Stewart (what a job he is doing!), also articles featuring two of our sponsors EFT and Fletchers. Talk about being at the heart of the town> Go out and buy a copy now

Tomorrow the Firsts travel to East Manchester for a rearranged fixture at bottom of the table Medics but as ever in this ultra-competitive league there is absolutely no room for complacency. Again there is no game for the Seconds but the Thirds have another rearranged game over the water at New Brighton. Round Two of the Six Nations on Saturday sees Ireland v Italy at 2.15pm then England v Wales at 4.45pm. Get down early to the club house, the place will be packed!

On Sunday Scotland host France at 3.00pm but no there are no Ladies or Colts games unfortunately.

Coming on our home grown talent tomorrow is a special day for the first of our up & coming generation to move up to and make his debut for the First team. Honing his skills in the Mini & Juniors and the Colts then brought on by the lads in the Second and Thirds teams Calum Tootle is selected on merit tomorrow for the Firsts at Manchester Medics. One of the clubs emerging characters it will be worth travelling to the shadow of the Eithad Stadium, Eastlands just to experience this whist encouraging his team mates in their endeavours, In the words of the song....

[Verse 1]
I got a girl named Sue, she knows just what to do
I got a girl named Sue, she knows just what to do
She rock to the east, she rocks to the west
But she's the girl that I know best

[Chorus]
Tutti frutti, oh Rudy [x5]
A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo

[Verse 2]
I got a girl named Daisy, she almost drives me crazy
I got a girl named Daisy, she almost drives me crazy
She knows how to love me, yes indeed
Boy, I don't know what you're doin' to me

[Chorus]
Tutti frutti, oh Rudy [x5]
A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo

[New Verse 3]
We got a prop named Callum, he knows how to shove 'em
We got a prop named Callum, he knows how to shove 'em

He steps to the left, he steps to the right
With ball in hand he's a sight.
