BREAKING NEWS - WE HAVE WON THE SEFTON SPORTS AWARD FOR CLUB OF THE YEAR !

Hi Everyone,

Last night a number of us attended the prestigious and hugely impressive Annual Sefton Sports Awards for 2013.

As well as the Mayor and all the local dignitaries, over 450 people packed the Floral Hall high in anticipation for the results.

We had been nominated and shortlisted for the Club of the Year by none other than the RFU themselves which in itself is a great achievement.

When they announced that Southport Rugby Club had won we all shouted for joy and nearly brought the roof down. We were complimented on our standing in the community,our volunteers, our values and the progress of the ladies and youth section.

It was a great honour for the team to represent YOU and without question the Award goes to everyone of you - we should be proud of the progress we are making and the opportunity we have to get even better.

Other awards went to Olympic athletes Beth Tweddle and Daniel Purvis and also to some fantastic individuals especially in the disabled and underprivileged parts of the community.

This has been a fitting end to our 140th Anniversary season - our founders would be proud of us.
