Be a part of this great club....

Founded in 1872, Southport Rugby Club is amongst the oldest clubs in the world, but today is a modern, vibrant and thriving Community Rugby Club situated on the Lancashire Coast.

Voted Sefton Sports Club of the year and Lancashire Junior Rugby Club of the year in 2016 we run twenty teams. This starts with 4/5 year olds in the U6s, through each age group to U18 Colts and now includes 3 new Junior Girls teams.
The Adult sides comprise men’s 1st 2nd and 3rd XV, a Ladies team and a Vets team the ‘Southport Shipwrecks’. The 1st XV now play in South Lancashire and Cheshire1 league, having been promoted in 2016. The majority of this young team are home grown talent having come through the ranks of our youth setup.

Our fully RFU accredited Mini and Junior section, now comprises over 370 active players and our coaches are all RFU qualified and DBS/CRB checked. We support the RFU ‘Kids First’ initiative with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment and encompassing the RFU core values. The club has a great family environment. 2016/17 has been another highly successful year with many junior players representing Lancashire and our U16s having won the Lancashire Cup.

We have strong links with local schools via our Club Community Coaches programme. Our ambition is to make Southport a ‘rugby town’.

The club is highly progressive and with an army of committed volunteers and has seen huge growth over the last decade with massive recent capital investment, including new ‘state of the art’ changing rooms and ‘match standard’ floodlighting. The clubhouse has also been fully refurbished to a very high specification and not only provides great facilities to our members, but has become a valued local venue, providing facilities to the wider community.

We welcome all new members, male and female, old and young, experienced or beginner.
