Just need it to be ratified by Guinness as a World Record but come what may NO ONE can take away what these lads and the club has achieved! Stunning!

OVER £25,000 RAISED IN SPONSORSHIP
WELL DONE AND THANK YOU TO ALL

The support for this cause has been truly amazing, matched by the selfless determination of the players to raise money for two heartfelt causes. This includes Ormskirk RUFC, Sale Sharks, Everton FC, Meols Cop School and Sir Alex Ferguson to name but a few. Thank you to you all.

MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN STEVE OLIVE

An Amazing Achievement by SRFC. We know it needs to be ratified but we know they did it!

In a display of awesome determination and stamina 46 players from our club played for 26 hours 36 minutes and 2 seconds to wrest, subject to that ratification, the Guinness World Record for the longest game of full contact, competitive, Rugby Union from previous holders Bromsgrove Rugby Club. In doing that Gareth Lang and the boys also raised over £25,000 for Ella's Vest and Ava and Alder Hey Hospital .A truly superhuman effort by all concerned.

For those of us who were lucky enough to be there on Friday and Saturday, we were able to enjoy the great achievement of the players on the pitch in a great family party atmosphere. For that, and for the efficient running of the event, our thanks must go to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly through last week and throughout the event, to enable this to happen; to the independent witnesses, to the physios, to the referees, to all the mini and junior players who acted as ball boys and girls and to their parents who brought them along, to our Club sponsors and those who sponsored the game, to those who contributed raffle and auction prizes, to the band Kahuna, to the truly talented Eva Fox, to the Aughton Male Voice choir and to DJ Parks who did such a great job in calling the boys home over that staggering 26 hour mark, to Angus Matheson who photographed the whole event; to Graham Stuart and Everton FC, to Hendrie Fourie and Sale Sharks and to St Helens RL who came along and gave their support and of course a massive thank you to all who came along to support on Friday and Saturday.

It truly was an occasion to remember and one that Gareth, the players and all supporters will surely never forget. Congratulations again to all the players. You were absolutely amazing. You broke a record and in doing so you made a major contribution to improving young lives. Outstanding!!

Thank you.
