Entertainment all the way as Southport suffer narrow defeat at home

Southport 33 -35 Tyldesley

A large crowd down at Waterloo Road witnessed a very exciting end to end game. Right from the start both sides showed intent with some fine attacking rugby.

Southport were a point down half time but started the second half in control of the game to take a 33 -21 lead into the final 10 minutes.

Tyldesley then came to life to run in 2 converted tries to take the points with a 35-33 win.

A tough one to take for the young Southport team and sure that there will be lessons learned that will stand them in good stead for the remainder of the season.

Also at home on Saturday were the 2nd Team who were up against Widnes 2s.

A very strong Widnes team ran out 42-3 winners in a tough encounter.

Nest week sees the 1s and 3s at home at Waterloo Road with the 2s on the road to Sedgley Park.

Sunday saw some good performances for the mini and juniors, u13s had their first win of season away at Eccles.

U9's enjoyed their first game of contact, it was a huge success with excellent tackles and a super proud coach.

U14's secured a 31-21 victory over nearest rivals Ormskirk.

U15's travelled to Tyldesley and secured a deserved victory 29-10.

The colts travelled to West Park a managed to run out 25-15 winners securing a second victory in a row.

Next week the U7's-U11's travel to Liverpool Collegiate whilst at home we have SUPER SUNDAY with U13's, U14's, U15's, U16's, Colts and Ladies all at home at Waterloo Road.
