It promises to be one of the best afternoon and evenings ever at Waterloo Road as the Firsts host Trentham with pre and post match pomp & circumstance

Sponsored by Chairman Andrew Carney the first home game of the season for the 1st XV marks the official opening of the fantastic new changing rooms, kitchen and the enlarged bar area.

To mark the occasion Andrew will be hosting many special guests including David Herriman and Malcolm Worsley from Lancashire RFU which has given terrific support to the club in progressing the development.

Likewise our many sponsors and supporters. In recognition of this the new changing rooms will be christened after three longstanding patrons starting with the Mike Halsall Changing Room On Saturday followed by the Fletchers and the Nationwide Changing Rooms later in the season. Mike, Rob and Ed Fletcher are all past players have continued to support the club since hanging up their boots, and whilst Bernard O'Malley may not have donned the black, red and black shirt the name and logo of his Southport based company Nationwide plc certainly has proudly done so over the past few seasons.

The club is delighted to welcome the players and officials from Trentham RUFC who are making the long journey up the M6 from the Land of Down Jonah (there's a song there somewhere - see below). It should be a match to savour as the Potteries based club will be on a high having gained promotion the last two years running. This is its first game in the league this season as for some reason last weeks fixture at home to Tyldesley was postponed.

Kick-off is 3pm.

Once hostilities have ceased it is very much hope they will stay with us for the after match festivities, along with the Seconds and Thirds as they speed back from Bury and Wirral respectively for their hand-reared sausage rolls, not forgetting the Ladies too.

Karaoke has been lined up - for the uninitiated karaoke is Karaoke is a form of interactive entertainment in which amateur singers sing along with recorded music using a microphone and public address system. In other words under the guise of the SRFC X factor it could be a living hell but to sort out the wheat from the chafe a 'Sing Off' between the various teams and factions will be held at approximately 7.00pm.

Apparently the hot money is on Dan Whalen (How much is that doggie in the window?), but other contenders could be Sparky (Knock on Astwood?) Whitfield jnr (Sam, Sam the lavatory man...? ), Pugs (Lang, lang time ago...?) Shane (Just one Cook? Nominations on a post card!
