Captain Forest Bailey and his merry men were pictured receiving the Raging Bull NW League C winners trophy at Bowdon RUFC recently.

The Junior Colts picked up the clubs first piece of silverware this season at the league presentation evening. The lads remarkable season has continued as subsequent victories away from home at Northwich and Waterloo has seen them reach the final of the League Vase where they will travel to Cheshire take on the might of League A side Sandbach later this month.

The success of this years Junior Colts is another indicator of the growing strength of the clubs youth set-up. This is having the desired effect of propagating the senior teams as the firsts have already blooded five Senior Colts this season, with strong representation too in the seconds and thirds.

With Steve Green having been selected for Lancashire u15s and four u14 players being picked to represent Merseyside, the u11s and u12s winning through to the Lancashire Cup finals, and no doubt success stories in other age groups too, the pipeline is well and truly established.

With Sports Tours weekend to come it all amounts to a fantastic climax to the season for the youngsters and not forgetting the seniors, to which they aspire, too. The firsts are in contention for glory in the Lancashire Plate with a home semi final tie against Bury or St Edwards Old Boys to look forward to and the already promoted seconds, captained by Martin Bailey, vying with Keswick for the league championship.

Lets hope that 'old' Bailey can emulate son Forest in getting himself photographed with his team mates being presented with the league trophy. Double Baileys all round in the club house?
