CALL ALL MEMBERS TO JOIN IN AND COMPETE IN THE LIVERPOOL ROCK & ROLL HALF MARATHON

Southport RFC running the Liverpool Half Marathon in 2014

Dear Friends,

Several members and friends of Southport RFC have decided to run the Liverpool Half Marathon in May 2014 and we would love you to join in.

This year sees Liverpool hosting its first ever Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon and half marathon on Sunday 25th May 2014, with live bands and DJs performing every mile of the route. The half marathon route starts at the Albert Dock and takes in Mathew Street, passes through the Chinese Arch and Sefton Park before the run home along the waterfront to finish at the Liverpool Echo Arena. Anyone brave enough to take on the full marathon course will also run past both football grounds before joining the half route.

The challenge is for as many as possible connected with Southport RFC to run the half marathon together – players, supporters, parents, coaches and friends. Entries are open to anyone over 17 years old, so this will be a great chance for colts and senior players to do some pre-season fitness work too! There will be all shapes, sizes and abilities running, and the emphasis for us all will very much be about taking part and completing the challenge of a half marathon.

As well as the challenge, this will also give runners the opportunity to raise sponsorship money – we plan to split any money raised between funds for the club and a local charity.

You can enter for the half marathon on-line by visiting http://uk.competitor.com/liverpool/register and clicking on ‘register now’.

If you are interested in running with us in May, please get in touch with Mike and Heidi Smith via email on mike.heidi.smith@gmail.com or mobile 07761 671719. It would be great to have every age group in the club represented and running together as Team Southport RFC.

Are you up for the challenge?

Regards

Mike Smith
