RUGBY WINS AS CRICKET LOST

Good start to the season for the 1st XV and Ladies 10s, but the Hockey Club win Havard-McQuaid trophy for the first time.

Thornton Cleveleys 27 Southport 35. The Firsts made it through to the next round of the Lancashire Plate on Saturday afternoon. The subsequent draw has thrown up the chance to avenge last years semi-final defeat against Trafford MV to be played on 6th February 2016.

The Ladies won the 10s tournament beating Preston Grasshoppers with a converted try in the last seconds of the final. Garstang and Ormskirk also competed.

On Sunday a Cricket XV representing the club lost the annual 20 over game for the first time to the Hockey Club by 15 runs in an entertaining encounter. A bucket collection raised £148.78p for the Raise4Russ2 charity in memory of former Ainsdale resident, Ormskirk RUFC and Hightown St Marys CC stalwart Russell Brennan.
