Spice talking at the bar as a toast (or two) is drunk to the Firsts victory in the Cup, and to an absent shipmate. He's Morgan a woman to us!

Terrific news, the First XV is through to the semi-final after beating the roughyeds* from Oldham 25-10 at Waterloo Road on Saturday.

A massive thanks to match sponsor Peter Thwaites and his guests who contributed to a splendid afternoon all round including guys from Devon and London who came up just for the game!

The semi final is also at Waterloo Road against Trafford MV on March 14th who surprisingly put Ormskirk to the sword yesterday. So no local derby to look forward to, but incentive enough as we strive to win a Senior Cup for the first time in 142 years.

But in the meantime there is business in the league to concentrate on first starting with a must win game at home to Dukinfield next week. Dukinfield was the first team to beat Southport this season, so we owe them! KO 2.15pm - the Firsts really appreciate the fantastic support on the touchline which is growing in numbers, so if you can come on down. It could make the difference!

*Believe it or not 'roughyed' is a nickname for a person from Oldham, derived from the rough felt used in the hatting industry which once employed many people.
