Southport Flower Show at Victoria Park is over this year. But what a performance from the Under 16’s on the site of the clubs previous home!

Coach Bernie Gavin sends this message to them all.

Well, Lads, those of you who turned up to park cars, to sell programmes, to take tickets, to give directions, to find missing people, to fetch, carry, take messages, do errands, fight with Bri, and, most importantly, be nice to customers and represent our club, DID US PROUD.

Congratulations to those of you who got stuck in. You know who you are.
Parents, I can tell you that you should be proud of our boys (and girl!).

Thank you so much for supporting our endeavours. We worked hard and we stuck to our tasks. And importantly we did it as a TEAM.

Thanks also to those parents who took time out to volunteer over the four days of what was pretty much hard but enjoyable graft. Thanks also to Johno, Jacob and Josh from the Colts who’d enjoyed it so much last year that they came back for more!

6 o’clock each evening felt like a major achievement, and Sunday afternoon’s manic portering activity verged on a bizarre scene from Fawlty Towers.

All this hard work will hopefully bring rewards to the club and the lads. It did more than that though. It brought us together to demonstrate that rugby’s more than just running around a field with a ball. It’s about respect for ourselves and for others, care, thoughtfulness and other qualities that are developing our lads into fine young men.

Well done.

Bernie

One of the things we really pride ourselves on at Southport RFC is to create an environment and atmosphere where our youngsters can develop, integrate and contribute to the community and to progress in life on and off the field. No more so than when you receive a message like this.

Well done all, Bernie too, and thank you for being such great ambassadors for the Club. Brings a whole new meaning to "the flower of youth".
