On Saturday SRFC Ladies played their part to support the "Inner Warrior" England RFU initiative to encourage girls and ladies to get a taste of rugby.

Southport Ladies have gone from a cold start a few years ago to, being promoted to the third tier of Ladies rugby in the country. A superb effort by all concerned and if the resounding success of last weekend is anything to by who knows what they can achieve

Members of the Ladies senior squad joined up with coaches Mike Dale and Mark Astwood to help introduce potential new members to the drills that make up part of their regular training.

Club photographer Angus Matheson (see post below) was on hand to capture the action and was moved to comment. “The funniest activity that I have ever photographed at Waterloo Road has to have been the water slide. It is meant to simulate going in for a sliding try and is best done on a sunny August day. Emma Barisio won this one, managing to cover the entire length of the slide face down!”

Club President Graham Ellis was there too to witness what he described one of the most fun-filled rugby events that he could remember, and hoped that everyone who was new to the game would come back for more, and to bring their friends! “We are always looking for more girls aged 13-18 and adults that wish to play rugby”
