Crunching Tackles set the Tone for a Good Days Rugby
Southport U10's win two from three matches in a challenging triangular with Fylde and Waterloo

A fantastic start to this 3 way fixture. Southport dominated from the start with some explosive attacking play from the forwards which meant we came away with good ball again and again. The recent hard work on our structure paid off and we were able to put the ball through the half backs and into the back line and we were unlucky not to come away with a fifth try , well done everyone.

This was a real battle from a big, tough Fylde side. The game was often stuck in our own half with both sides struggling to make ground against well matched opposition. A Southport lead was quickly overturned and we went into half time a try down. Resilience shone through though and after a brief break due to injury we battled over the line to level the score. The last play was called and we manged to get the ball through hands to Fraser at outside centre who finished the game with a trademark solo run to bring our second win of the day. Great rugby guys, the forwards again did stirling work against a big pack and there was good communication throughout.

I think the Fylde game combined with hot weather took it out of us and we never really got into the game. A few injuries didn't help and it was soon clear we were looking forward to our chips and a drink.
Guys, two great wins against top sides, well done everyone. Player of the day goes to Zach Butcher for excellent work in the ruck and scrum. Tackle of the day was really hard with so much excellent work, well done to Alfie for solid tackles in every game but the best of the day goes to Ethan Hart for a crunching tackle at the start of the first Waterloo match which helped put them on a winning roll.
