UNDER 9s ENJOY SATURDAY SALE!
With the 1st team at Ruskin Park in the afternoon the U9's aimed to get the party started early at Sale Sharks at the A J Bell Stadium.
Dave Mac reports as a 9 strong squad took on teams from Longton, Bury, West Park and others in six 10 minute matches in a mini festival of rugby .
Strong performances from Luc, Oliver & Captain Henry supported the outstanding Jack P & Josh - the latter as the smallest player on the team making tackle after tackle with perfect technique against players twice his size.
Scything runs by Oliver and George capped 6 great games of rugby - and after a slow start the team racked up 3 wins 2 losses and a draw !
Joined and supported by the injured James there were lots of happy smiling children and parents who then enjoyed the Sale Sharks match as they took on Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership !
The team got a chance to parade around the ground ! Fantastic day out !
Another festival - this time at Liverpool St. Helens who were also joined by old friends Tarleton.
The squad were bolstered by 10 more players to help the tired legs !
Buoyed by the inspirational news that the first team had won in a really tight match - the pre match warm up and session concentrated rapid line speed and tackling technique.
Both teams fielded by Southport emulated the first team by closing down LSH & Tarleton and gaining advantage with turnover ball time after time. Defence from both sides was so solid one opposition coach remarked " that was like the England defence !"
Rock solid defence with great tackling from everyone meant a great platform for hat fulls of try's from Lewis, Aimee, Jack & Henry - with superb individual efforts from Luc, Charlotte & Katie being rewarded with try's awarded.
Speed of thought and awareness were lightning quick !
Harry demonstrated his outstanding support play and always seemed to be there for the offload near the line to smile in and make the score and George, Zac, Matty & Nikolai found some new gears !
Outstanding team display both in technique and attitude and willingness to learn.
