Chris has a phenomenal rugby pedigree having played for Wigan Warriors, rugby league, and in the Rugby Union premiership with Sale Sharks, Northampton Saints and Wasps. Chris won the Premiership final with Sale, scoring in that final. In addition he has represented England U21s, England 7’s and the Barbarians.

Mayor's position of choice is as outside centre and he can also operate in any position in the back-line. Chris also has a Sports Science degree from Edge Hill University.

Last season Mayor was part of the Sale FC, National 2 North Championship winning team to National One. Mayor also played a pivotal starting role at outside centre for Lancashire, who won the Bill Beaumont Cup at Twickenham for a Championship record 25 times.

Commenting on Chris joining, Steve Olive, Chairman of Southport RFC said ”We are thrilled that Chris has decided to join us. It is a really exciting appointment for the Club. Chris, together with Head Coach Neil Ryan, will play a major role in the development of the Club and its players. The first team and the exciting young talent we have at the Club will, I have no doubt, benefit tremendously from Chris’s presence. Pre season training is underway and the start of the season cannot come soon enough!”
