Congratulations to all our members yesterday as we raised over £300 for the George Claxton Trust.
George ,aged 15, last year suffered a serious injury playing for Blackburn last February and is currently disabled and in a wheelchair and is paralysed from the chest down - he is making slow but good progress and we send our love prayers and support for George and his family.
Yesterday with the wonderful help of Lynn Walton, who made a Rugby Ball cake and a gorgeous collection of cup cakes dedicated to George, we conducted a raffle with our friends from Blackburn Rugby Club as part of the annual fixtures.
Last night we received this message from Blackburn Rugby Club.
"Ladies/Gentlemen and Children,
Firstly thank you for rotating the fixtures at such short notice.
Although I wasn't with you today one of our coaches Simon Birbeck alerted me to the fact that your parents raffled a superb rugby themed cake and collected over £300 for George's trust fund. Please thank all involved in this kind gesture and particularly the lady who made such a wonderful cake.
We shall pass on your good wishes to George and his family.
Once more - thanks.
