We welcome Glossop to Waterloo Road on Saturday afternoon for what promises to be a significant occasion in the club’s 2025/26 league campaign.
The First XV head into their final home league fixture of the season sitting top of Counties 2 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire on 69 points, with Glossop currently seventh on 31 points.
Southport come into the match in excellent form. Since early February, they have put together a strong run of results, winning their last four league outings against Liverpool Collegiate, Leigh, Garstang and Littleborough. Their most recent performance saw them secure an impressive 24–12 away win at Littleborough, continuing the momentum they have built in recent weeks.
That form has been a hallmark of the season. Big wins over Heaton Moor, Sefton, Liverpool Collegiate and Leigh have underlined Southport’s attacking quality, while narrow successes against Littleborough and Bolton highlighted the side’s ability to come through tight contests when it matters most.
Glossop will travel to Southport with confidence of their own, having defeated Southport 15–13 in the reverse fixture in February. They also recorded a notable 24–0 win over Heaton Moor earlier in 2026, although they were beaten 38–27 by Bolton last weekend.
Southport will know they are facing a side capable of making life difficult, but with home advantage, strong recent form and plenty at stake, Saturday presents another major opportunity for the First XV in front of their own support.
Saturday is also an important day off the field, with the club hosting its Patrons Lunch alongside the match. We look forward to welcoming our patrons to Waterloo Road and to having a big crowd in for what should be a special afternoon at the club. Entry to the game is free, and the bar will be open from midday, so we hope to see plenty of members, supporters, families and friends down at the club to get behind the team. With it being the final home game of the season for the First XV, the occasion is one everyone at Southport RFC is looking forward to.
Kick-off is 3.00pm at Waterloo Road.
