May Day Bank Holiday weekend will see Southport RFC once again host its flagship Junior Rugby Festival (Sports Tours) tournament.

Held over the weekend of 3rd and 4th May and sponsored by Arcadis & Kukri the club will be hosting seventy four teams from the ages of 6 to 15 from all over the UK, twenty-two of which will be residing at Pontins, Ainsdale.

Southport Rugby Football Club and rugby in general presents a powerful agent for the lives of young people that are lucky enough to be exposed to it. The club’s culture brings many benefits through an improvement in self-esteem, personal standards, fitness, well-being and self-confidence.

As with last year’s Rugby Festival, there will be a wide variety of food available all weekend. This year a "Food Court" has been created where you will find everything from the club kitchen serving chips, various sandwiches, BBQ, and sweet stalls etc. .

The club kindly and politely asks you not to bring your own alcohol, BBQ's etc. to the tournament grounds as refreshments will be plentiful and available at very reasonable prices.

Visitors new to Southport will certainly not want to miss out on sampling the clubs very own celebration ale Ruck & Maul specially created by the Southport Brewery for the clubs 140th anniversary season in 2012/13.

You may also be tempted by the club shop, where a large range of vintage Southport Junior shirts are on sale at only £1 each.

Kukri sports merchandise will be also on sale the course of the weekend at very competitive prices. Kukri have produced and kindly sponsored all of the shirts for helpers and pitch marshals’.

One last thing the club asks is that there is no car parking on Clovelly Drive (the road that backs on to the rugby club) due to the inappropriate car parking on previous events. Please park carefully elsewhere, with consideration for local residents.

Southport RFC looks forward to seeing you. Everybody is more than welcome to enjoy the carnival atmosphere.
