SOUTHPORT RFC RANKED 3rd IN THE WORLD THIS WEEK

Graham Ellis17 Jun 2013 - 13:11

Take a look at the box immediately to the top left. This week we're the third highest ranked Pitchero rugby union web site worldwide.

There are over a thousand rugby union clubs in the Pitchero network including New York RFC and clubs in Australia so this is no mean feat especially bearing in mind the status of other Pitchero clubs including the likes of Blackheath, Waterloo, Sedgely Park, Stockport, Burnage, Westcombe Park, etc. We're also the 18th ranked out of all sports clubs worldwide.

Southport has consistently been ranked in the top 50 rugby union club clubs since the new site went live a couple of years ago. Our previous highest ranking was 8th soon after we launched.

Coming on top of the RFU Presidents Award and being voted the best sports club in Sefton this season this is yet another tangible sign of the extent to which things being put in place on and off the field. But the web site could be even better....

I now want to use this opportunity to appeal to each team or age group, mens, ladies, colts, juniors and minis, to take responsibily and nominate someone to manage their respective team pages as from today and in the future to ensure each carries news during the close season,is up-to-date with a team photo, players, coaches etc. for the start of the season, and populated with team selections, match reports, news, statistics etc. throughout the playing season.

Lets fill in the missing pages and make it even more readable and effective, and reach for the top in so doing. It is our shop window literally to the world.

The site gets read by an amazing amount of people including the RFU, other clubs, the media, and former players and I am constantly gratified by the number of positive comments from all over.

But as I say, it can be even better.....over to you.

PS I'm also looking for help now for next season in managing the burgeoning press and PR side of things, especially with weekend match programmes (production and sales), match reports, photographs for the Visiter. Any youngsters out there looking to do media or photography as a career option? You can e-mail me at gellis@greenhousesurveyors.co.uk Thanks.
