Message from Steve Olive Gareth Lang Colin Toohey James Doran

Whether you were playing, volunteering or just watching it is still difficult to comprehend the scale of the achievement of the 46 players on the pitch on Friday and Saturday. It will no doubt be the subject of much pride and much discussion for years to come. Definitely one of those 'I was there!' moments.

The aim now is to have the time ratified by Guinness as a new World Record. This is not a quick process if history is any thing to go by. Ratification of the current record took some 10 months to achieve.

Tempting as it may be to sing from the rafters that we are world record holders, we are not until that process of ratification is successfully completed. We don't want to be killjoys, but until that occurs we cannot and should not refer to ourselves as World Record Holders. That honour still belongs to Bromsgrove RFC and for us to claim otherwise does not give Bromsgrove the respect they deserve and would not, we think, be well received by Guinness

So lets continue to revel in the feeling of pride in our club and the 46 players who performed heroics on Friday and Saturday, but regardless of what we feel in our hearts, let's just be careful how we describe this achievement of 'THE LONGEST GAME' until we have ratification in the bag!
