U16s Canada Tour 2025

Southport RFC23 Jul - 06:00

Southport RFC Under 16s Set Off on Historic Canada Tour.

Today (Wednesday, 23 July 2025) marks a landmark occasion for Southport Rugby Football Club, as our Under 16s squad sets off on the club’s first-ever transatlantic tour; an exciting rugby adventure in Ontario, Canada.

The tour follows two years of planning, coordination, and fundraising. Over the coming days, the team will participate in a structured itinerary combining competitive fixtures, cultural experiences, and team development.

The squad will be based at Toronto Metropolitan University for the first five days of the trip. During this period, they will have the opportunity to explore the city and engage in training sessions in preparation for their first match. That fixture will take place on Friday evening against Balmy Beach Rugby Club, a long-established side in Toronto’s rugby community.

Following their time in the city, the team will make a day trip to Niagara Falls before continuing north across Ontario. On the way to their final destination at Killarney Mountain Reserve, the squad will stop in Barrie for their second tour fixture against Barrie Beach Rugby Club.

This tour has been made possible through extensive support from the local community, including sponsorship and fundraising efforts designed to ensure accessibility for as many players as possible.

Southport RFC extends its thanks to tour sponsors Charlton Minicoaches, Riley’s Removals, Arnold Barron Properties, Dogs Dinner Club, DPL, Littler Machinery, and Hope Funeral Care for supplying the team’s leisurewear and backing the initiative. The club also acknowledges the many friends, families, and volunteers who contributed to fundraising events throughout the past two years. Thanks are also due to Enda, Mike, and the wider coaching and support team for their work in organising and delivering the tour.

Fixtures, updates, and photos from the trip will be shared through Southport RFC’s official channels over the coming days.
