Brief Preview: First XV

The First XV welcome top of the table, Anselmians to Waterloo Road on Saturday. This seasons promotion favourites, the ‘Saints’ are still unbeaten as we near the halfway stage of the North 2 West season and with Port slipping down the table to sixth in recent weeks, following three straight defeats a reaction is expected as Darren Hall and his men hope to regather the opening season form and end Anselmians relentless run.

Southport have averaged an impressive 17.7 points against so far this campaign, however expect to be tested defensively on Saturday as the visitors are the division’s top scorers averaging 48.67 points a game, and only on two occasions this season have scored less than 21 points. Over the years this fixture has always provided, with both teams playing an exciting brand of rugby and in line with recent meetings we expect it to be one of the most entertaining games of the season on Saturday.
