Starting at noon on the Saturday 16th of July, Richard Webb will attempt to ride his bike for 24 hours in order to raise money for charity.

Ride Yourself Mental is a 24 Hour Bike Ride in support of Parkinsons UK that will get underway on Saturday 16th of July and is organised by former player, Richard Webb in memory of his late father, Peter Webb.

Starting in Birkdale Village at 12:00 on Saturday 16th of July, the circuit for the following 24 hours is a 30-mile loop of Southport and the surrounding areas. Richard is welcoming all budding cyclists to join him; whether that is for 24 hours or for a ride along down the costal road your support and company will be very much welcomed.

Richard writes, “Peter Webb, my dad, got diagnosed with Parkinson’s dementia. It changed him and changed us as a family. I watched my mum care for her best friend, partner and husband of over 60 years till the very end. It was hard to watch but inspiring at the same time. The Beatles sang, “All you need is love”, how true this is. He was my dad, although he didn't know me anymore, but now and again you would get him back, just a sentence, just a wink or an expression and now and again his sarcasm, which I really miss. And as I type this last line my eyes fill up with tears and I can hear him say “you soft pillock”. Love you, miss you, cheers dad.”

All at Southport RFC wish Richard all the best with his endeavours, that we are sure will be supported by our Rugby community, whether that be in the saddle, or with donation to Parkinsons UK.
